Our History

1979 A public meeting was called and an appeal launched to raise money for a hospice in North East Essex
1983 Myland Hall was acquired
1985 St Helena Hospice's Inpatient Unit opened its doors to the first patients
St Helena Hospice was officially opened by the Queen Mother
1988 After a generous donation from a local businessman, the Joan Tomkins Centre was opened by Princess Diana
1995 The Education Centre was opened
2002  The Tendring Centre, in Clacton town centre was opened
2007  The Inpatient Unit was extended and refurbished
2010 The Joan Tomkins Centre was extended and modernised
The Education Centre was extended and modernised
