Welcome to St Helena Hospice
Situated in landscaped gardens, away from the hustle of everyday life, St Helena Hospice provides a wide range of specialist palliative care services for people living in North Essex who have an advanced, progressive, life threatening illness.
For patients, families and friends, St Helena provides support within a friendly and relaxed environment. This includes a children's playroom, tranquil gardens, access to refreshments, flexible visiting hours and an overnight room for relatives.
We also have two day centres: Tendring Day Centre at Clacton-on-Sea and the Joan Tomkins Day Centre located at the main Hospice site in Colchester. These centres provide a number of services including advice on practical day-to-day issues, nursing/medical queries, a range of different therapies and support for family members and carers. Most people who visit our day centres gain immense support from spending time with others who are living in a similar situation. Many people attend on a regular day each week and there are special sessions arranged for teenagers and younger children, whose parent or grandparent may be living with a life-threatening illness.
St Helena Hospice is a centre of excellence in the care of the dying where training and education is also available to those involved with the provision of palliative care. It has firm links in policy and practice with the statutory, voluntary and private services whilst always acknowledging its own responsibility in providing quality specialist palliative care. It therefore seeks to work closely with and complement all agencies and individuals involved in the care and support of patients and families.
St Helena Hospice is a community of people who will welcome and help the family before and after the patient's death and involve them as part of the caring team.
St Helena Hospice is open to all who need specialist palliative care at no cost to patients or families.
St Helena Hospice is a registered charity (No. 280919).
