Our Shops

Could we politely ask that you leave donations only during the opening hours of Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm. Unfortunately, items left outside these hours can easily be spoiled by rain or dew making them unfit for sale. In these circumstances, we are obliged to send your donations for recycling, a service for which we are charged. Thank you.

St Helena Hospice currently has 18 retail outlets, with some of our shops holding specialist stock such as our Books & Coffee shop and our Vintage shop in Colchester as well as the Bookshop and the Music & Collectables shops in Frinton. Other shops sell a wide assortment of pre-owned products; Dovercourt for example sells homeware, clothing, furniture and books amongst other things. We also have an accessories and shoe agency in our shop in Dedham.

We currently have shops in the following locations:

  • Six shops in Colchester
  • One in Dovercourt
  • Two in Brightlingsea
  • One in Tiptree
  • Three in Frinton
  • Two in Halstead
  • One in Clacton
  • One in Dedham
  • One in Manningtree

Our St Helena Hospice donation centre is based on Peartree Road in Colchester. Whilst we are happy for you to leave smaller donations at all of our shops, Peartree Road provides lots of parking and an easy drop-off point for multiple or large donations.

We also fundraise by selling donated goods on eBay and Amazon, both of which allow us to sell collectable and valuable items to a larger national and international audience.

Through our shops and online selling, we receive a valuable income which helps us to keep our hospice services running. We could not do this without the wonderful support of our local community donating their pre-owned goods for sale and also purchasing from us.
