Blooming good way to raise Hospice money
02 December 2009
A rare book based on Frinton’s heyday is being auctioned to raise money for St Helena Hospice.
The Hospice bookshop in Connaught Avenue, Frinton, has been given a copy of Rosemary for Frinton, by the Essex-born author Ursula Bloom.
People are being invited to make silent bids at the shop over the next two weeks for the book, which tells of the author’s exciting social life in the town in the run-up to and through the First World War.
The book was first published in 1970, but is no longer in print, so is sought after by collectors and local residents.
Shop manager Sue Ward said: “We were given the book anonymously.People often pop in here just to see if we have this book in at any time.”
The silent auction will run until noon on December 19th. You can visit the shop to bid or call 01255 851755.
