Midnight Walk 2010 - Registration now open
28 January 2010

Ladies… walk this way!
Today St Helena Hospice is launching their second Midnight Walk, which will be taking place on Saturday 5th June 2010. The ladies-only event will commence on the strike of midnight when 2,500 ladies will start their walk through Colchester in aid of St Helena Hospice.
The Midnight Walk will start and finish at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, the home of Colchester United and walkers will follow a circular route of 12km (7.5 miles).
Participants can look forward to an enjoyable and exciting evening walking for fun or in memory of a loved one. Walkers can join in with friends, family members, work colleagues or simply come along and make friends on the way.
Registration for the walk is just £15 and walkers will receive an official Midnight Walk t-shirt along with a full event pack containing helpful information and fundraising tips. Each participant will also receive hot drinks on the night and a well deserved medal when they cross the finish line.
The Midnight Walk is delighted to announce Colchester United, the Gazette, Red Tiger, Hatfields Furnishers Ltd, Spec Savers in Clacton-on-Sea, Balfour Beatty, REL Field Marketing, Water Direct, Anglia Crown, Five Lakes Hotel, Golf, Country Club and Spa and Total Car Parks as supporters of the event.
Matt Hudson, Media Manager, Colchester United Football Club said:
"Colchester United are delighted to be a partner for this excellent event once again.
We have been a long time friend of the Hospice and we are proud of our relationship with them. The first event was a roaring success and we will be doing all we can to help build on the foundations laid last year. The club are intending to put in a team for the event and would urge all local companies to do the same."
Tom Parkes, Chief Reporter, The Gazette said
“The Gazette exists to stand up for the interests of local people and to celebrate their many remarkable achievements. We are therefore proud to lend our support to the St Helena Hospice Midnight Walk.”
Alexander Ward, Creative Director, Red Tiger Branding & Design said
“As always, we’re absolutely chuffed to be supporting St Helena Hospice in the great work they’re doing. Here’s the big Red Tiger wishing everyone involved the very best of luck, and see you on the night!”
Robert London, Marketing and Merchandise Director, Hatfields said
"Hatfields are always delighted to support St Helena Hospice as our chosen charity. When we were approached to sponsor the 2010 'Midnight Walk', we were only too happy to say yes. We are aware just how much this wonderful organisation benefits the community and are proud to be associated with all those many volunteers who give their time to help raise funds for the Hospice, which works tirelessly for the good of their patients and their relatives."
A spokesperson from Specsavers said:
'We are very proud to support the Midnight Walk and think it's a fantastic way to raise money for St Helena Hospice, who do such important work. We'd like to wish all the walkers the best of luck!'
John Tidyman, Balfour Beatty said:
“Balfour Beatty regards supporting charity events like the Midnight Walk as an integral part of its business mission. Through a combination of corporate and employee support, we hope that we can help St Helena Hospice to achieve their fundraising targets and objectives and are proud to be supporting the Midnight Walk.”
Kate Alden, Midnight Walk Event Manager said:
“Following the huge success of the Midnight Walk last year we are incredibly excited about launching the 2010 event which promises to be another fantastic and fun night out. We really appreciate the generosity we have received from all our supporting companies this year and look forward to welcoming 2500 ladies to join us on June 5th. Last year we managed with 1500 participants to incredibly raise over £150,000 for the Hospice so having now opened up 2500 places for the walk we are really excited to see what the 2010 event will raise.”
Whilst this is a ladies-only walk there is definitely a part for men to play. The Midnight Walk team needs lots of men to volunteer their support to come along on the night and work as stewards along the route.
The event is set to be a sell out and places are limited so we would certainly recommend getting your place reserved as soon as possible. You can register online at www.colchestermidnightwalk.co.uk or fill in your details below to receive your registration form in the post.
Don’t miss out on the best night of the year…register now!
