Just the ticket for the Hospice

10 February 2010

Bus drivers who wore festive clothes before Christmas brought a smile to the face of charity organisers.

First group drivers wore the garments to raise money for St Helena Hospice and yesterday the Hospice was presented with a cheque for £1,450

From December 12th to 24th, drivers at First’s Colchester, Harwich and Clacton depots drove their buses dressed in a variety of costumes.

Kevin Howard, based at Colchester, has been the organiser of the event since its launch seven years ago. He said

“I have first hand experience of the good work St Helena Hospice does. I really am overjoyed with this result and would like to thank the people who donated money for this good cause.”

Heather Buxton, Community Fundraiser at St Helena Hospice said,

“The team at First Essex are so supportive of the work we do and we are really grateful for all their fundraising activities. I would like to say a big thank you to all the drivers who participate and for all the valuable funds they raise for ST Helena Hospice.”

St Helena Hospice is the specialist palliative care provider in North East and Mid Essex. It opened in 1985 and provides medical help, nursing care and therapy.
