Surgery boost for hospice

20 May 2010

Doctors, staff and patients at a Colchester surgery have raised more than £3,500 for St Helena Hospice.

The surgery, at 19 Creffield Road, chose the Hospice after staff there cared for the husband of Dr Carol Jones before he passed away.

A total of £3,502 was raised after the Colchester Hospice was nominated as the surgery’s flu day charity and collections were taken from patients attending for seasonal flu vaccinations.

Mrs Jones said: “My late husband would have been delighted the practice chose to give its 2009 donations to St Helena Hospice to help others receive the wonderful care he and our family received in the twilight of his illness.”

“We would all like to thank the patients for their generosity.”

St Helena community fundraiser Heather Buxton said: “Creffield Road Surgery and its patients are always incredibly supportive of the hospice. We are just so grateful for their generosity.”
