History of hospice site brought to life in a book
20 May 2010
An author has revised and re-printed a book detailing the interesting history of Myland Hall in Colchester – home to St Helena Hospice.
John Appleby is a volunteer at the charity and is author of St Helena Hospice, an updated version of his book.
The hall has a “long colourful history” which can be traced back to the early Middle Ages, and Mr Appleby’s book provides it’s history, bringing the reader up to date with the hospice which is now in it’s 25th anniversary year.
Elizabeth Hall, medical director from 1985-2003, said: “John has painted an intriguing tapestry of history in this book about Myland Hall. It reminds us of the transitory nature of life but also its vitality, variety and continuity.”
The book is available for £3 on 01206 848160 or by visiting the hospice library at Myland Hall.
