Volunteering for St Helena Hospice…
...we have something for everyone!
St Helena Hospice is currently supported by approximately 800 volunteers, in addition to 170 employees. Volunteers contribute enormously to the Hospice and bring skills, interests and individuality. Volunteers come from all walks of life. Attitudes, reliability, common sense and flexibility are just some of the qualities which are required. There are some duties which volunteers can carry out which will not bring them into direct contact with patients or their families, so all of your skills are needed. Please click here to view some of the voluntary roles that may be available. Volunteer Information Leaflet.
Before taking on a voluntary role it is important to think about the length of regular service you will be able to provide to the Hospice. Continuity of service is particularly important in work involving the building up of relationships with patients and families. . It is far better for a volunteer to begin modestly and perhaps increase the involvement later, rather than begin enthusiastically and drop out after a short time.
If you believe that you can contribute to St Helena Hospice and our philosophy, please apply below. We will then contact you to arrange a convenient time for a visit to the Hospice, as this gives us the opportunity to discuss your application.
